Why Sutherland
Investing, as we all know, is not for the faint-hearted. It demands rigorous research, continuous monitoring, and a deep understanding of market trends and financial instruments. Additionally, when it comes to your hard-earned savings, the idea of putting your money at risk can be pretty daunting. This is where we come in.
At Sutherland Wealth Management, we prioritize effective communication and active listening. We recognize that each client comes to us with a unique set of circumstances, financial aspirations, and lifestyle goals. We respect this individuality and strive to align our services closely with your personal financial journey.
Our approach hinges on taking the time to understand your requirements in depth. We focus on factors like your financial objectives, risk tolerance, time horizon, and overall lifestyle to create an investment strategy tailored to your needs. We understand that a parent saving for their children’s college education will have a very different financial plan than a retired couple looking to maximize their 401(k)s. We take these variations into account when formulating your personalized investment plan.
At Sutherland Wealth Management, we are dedicated to understanding you and using that understanding to create a tailor-made, cost-effective investment strategy that helps you achieve your financial dreams with greater efficiency. We don’t just manage your investments; we partner with you on your financial journey.
Who We Serve
Sutherland Wealth Management was born out of a desire to serve a specific group of hardworking individuals – pre-retiree automotive professionals in metro Detroit. We recognized the unique financial needs and challenges of this group and decided we were the ones to provide the support they needed.
Our entire practice revolves around two key principles: simplicity and clarity. We understand that the world of finance can seem complex, even overwhelming at times, but we’re here to cut through the noise. We strive to make investing as straightforward as possible, presenting your financial picture in a way that’s easy to understand. After all, it’s your money, and you should know exactly how it’s working for you.
Our Process
Here at Sutherland Wealth Management, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we typically break down our client engagement into a two-meeting process to confirm that we’re on the same page and everything is tailor-made to your needs.
The first meeting is all about getting to know you better. Think of it as a friendly chat, where we discuss your current financial status and your dreams for the future. We’re genuinely interested in your personal aspirations, whether you’re planning to buy a dream home, save for your kids’ college, or retire comfortably.
During this meeting, we talk about every tiny detail that’s needed for your financial plan. It’s important for us to get a full picture, so we’ll delve into topics like your income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and more. We’ll also consider your attitude towards risk and any specific investment preferences you might have. This information helps us create a financial plan that is customized to your needs and goals.
Then comes the second meeting – this is where things start to take shape. We’ve taken everything you’ve told us and used it to put together a proposed investment portfolio just for you. We’ll walk you through each element, explaining how it fits into your overall financial strategy and how it can help you achieve your goals.
Our Core Values
In order to build financial solutions for my clients and continuously guide them toward their goals, it is a prerequisite that I have a detailed understanding of their overall financial picture; that combined with a thorough knowledge of the markets allows me to execute on their stated objectives.
Personally, I value my independence. I believe this translates into value for clients as it helps me avoid the trap of groupthink that can be common in the markets and financial services industry. I aim to bring an un-biased approach to the markets and everyone’s unique circumstances.
As you may have guessed, family is extremely important to me – and a big part of what I do here at Sutherland. In more cases than not, I am working with multiple family members and, when desired by the clients, helping provide continuity in their financial planning.
This is non-negotiable – clients will be treated politely and be given the respect they deserve in all interactions.
